Another successful concert from Dayly Entertainment, one of the biggest concert producers in the Philippines, as they bring back Patrick Monahan, Scott Underwood and Jimmy Stafford or more known as Train here in Manila last Thursday night – December 7, 2011 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum. There were over 5000 Train fans that went to the Big Dome to catch Train’s 2nd concert here in Manila.
The show started at around 8 in the evening. Tutti Caringal and his band, 6cyclemind, performed as Train’s front-act. They played some of their hits including “Kung Wala Na Nga” and “Sandalan” – the last song for their act performed with a little snippet from Francis Magalona’s “Kaleidoscope World”. Then there was a 30-minute break after their performance in preparation for the main act, Train.
The fans went wild when they heard the sound of a train’s horn as the introduction for the main act. Train’s first song was “Parachute” and it was followed by “If It’s Love”. Pat, the vocalist, pulled out his mobile phone and took some photos of the crowd as he sang their second song for the night.
They also performed Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” where Pat chose some fans – two girls to be exact, among the crowd to sing a few lines and near the end of the song one girl stood out and continued singing the song with him as a duet until the end.
The band also performed “She’s On Fire” and Pat stopped singing right in the middle of the song to choose some beautiful ladies among the crowd who would sing and dance with him on stage. The lucky selected ladies were each given a shirt and were soon called as the “Manila Trainettes”. Pat asked the trainettes to really show off their so-called “talents” on stage in exchange for a signed acoustic guitar (signed then and there) and there was a girl that really stood out so she got it. Lucky her, very few fans get to have a chance like that with the band!
They also performed, for the first and the last time for this year, their smash hit single “Shake Up Christmas” from their album, Save Me, San Francisco: Golden Gate Edition. Another memorable performance was “Marry Me” wherein Pat got off the stage and roamed around the patron area, hugged some fans, and took photos with them using their digital cameras while singing and after the song he said, “…we’re married Manila.”
And for their last song before the encore set, they performed their hit song “Hey Soul Sister” while giving away Train shirts to the crowd including his freshly-worn white shirt which Pat signed in front of the crowd.
For the encore set, they performed “Words” and “Drops of Jupiter” for the last song of their show. Pat said that Manila was one of the most exciting places that they’ve been to and that they promised to come back very soon. It was truly an unforgettable Train ride. Big thanks to Dayly Entertainment for bringing them back here in Manila. What a good way to end the year.
-Their first concert here in Manila was at Alabang Town Center last June 2010.
-The band will be releasing their 6th studio album on April 2012 according to Patrick Monahan.
